Running on empty: CC runs out of gas; Brewers lose again

A five-run 2nd inning was all that Brett Myers and the Phillies would need to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-5 NLDS, as Philly dropped the Brewers for the second straight day, this time by a score of 5-2.
CC Sabathia was obviously exhausted…he lasted just 3 2/3rds innings, gave up 6 hits and 4 walks leading to 5 runs, all earned–4 of those on a Shane Victorino grand slam.
The Brewers’ offense was nowhere to be found, as they could only muster a three hits on the night, with two of those by Ryan Braun. Still, the Crew plated a pair–Myers walked J.J. Hardy with the bases loaded in the 1st to plate Ray Durham; Hardy scored in the 7th inning on a Craig Counsell grounder.
Milwaukee returns home having to win three straight against the Phillies. Either Dave Bush or Jeff Suppan will get the nod on Saturday, with Yovani Gallardo the likely candidate to pitch on Sunday on three days rest.
The only consolation? The Cubs’ aren’t doing any better against the Dodgers….

Corey Hart doesn’t even see pitches at this point. Watch him pull his head out when the pitch comes in. I’d rather see Gwynn starting against a righty. They need another OFer on this roster. Twelve pitchers was too many to roll with.

CUBS SUCK!! Yeah, the Brew Crew are still slumping, but I for one and damn proud they made it this far. I give big props to them for just making the post season. I also agree with Stigs – Corey just has been off for a while now and he just isn’t seeing anything. I would hate to sit him – but at this point, I don’t know how they can’t. I would like to see Gwynn in there on Saturday!

I agree…or at least bat Hart 8th…maybe they’ll at least walk him to get to the pitcher.

i’m happy to see all yall get to the postseason. it SHOULD have happened for 3 years in a row but unfortunately your GM stuck with a manager who is a suckulous manager.
and now you’ll (most likely) lose sheets and CC and suppan/bush are not exactly going to lead anyone to a playoff and manny parra/gallardo look like they need a little more experience
actually i hope yall don’t lose CC. would be TOO kewl if he signed some sort of contract that would pay a smaller amount immediately and then pay a smaller amount for years.
i just HATE to see him off to the yecchies
and bout every bat is slumping at the wrong time now.
    sigh
so now it’s root root root for any team except the redsux/cubs (who, hopefully, are finished)
