Road Sweet Road

What’s the perfect remedy for a team that scuffled their way to a 1-6 homestand? Get back out on the road where they have won seven straight games.
Milwaukee snapped their five game losing streak on Friday night with a 9-0 win over the Braves in Atlanta. It was the eighth straight road victory for the Crew. Jeff Suppan picked up the win to make his record 6-7 on the year. Suppan pitched seven shutout innings against Atlanta and allowed only five hits while walking three.
The offense erupted early and often to give Suppan plenty of run support. The Crew scored two in the first, one in the second and three in the third. Atlanta’s starter, Chuck James, never made it out of the third inning. The Brewers added three more runs in the eighth for the final tally of 9-0.
Rickie Weeks led the team with two hits while Prince Fielder and Mike Cameron each went deep. Bill Hall and Jason Kendall each scored two runs. It was a good overall performance coming off of a pitiful series against the Cubs.
Look, I’m not going to blow this win out of proportion. I’m glad to see the offense finally decided to swing the bats like they are capable of. Jeff Suppan also had a nice outing and worked through some trouble early. Suppan has always been a second half pitcher and hopefully this is the start of his turnaround. The Cubs lost on Friday to the Pirates so the Brewers are now only four back. This thing can turn right back around in the Brewers’ favor very quickly.
CC Sabathia takes the mound for the Crew on Saturday afternoon and will look to bounce back from his poor outing against the Cubs on Monday.

okay, I think the reason it did not work is I pasted a comment I posted on the Cubs site responding to Top Nine Reasons it Must Suck to be a Brewers Fan. Just look there and feel free to use that as a guest column, and let people know they can read my stuff on MVN’s The Frozen Tundra (also The Cold Shoulder, which is about the San Jose Sharks).

Problems are MVN’s, not Brewers Bar’s, so don’t sweat it. But take your reasons and mine (see their article for my comment), and you can have a whole bunch!
